Tattie progress ?

Neighbour still has carrots under straw. He must be getting 2 year's rent for them judging by his recent purchase šŸ¤£

Lad in village here works at big potato farm in Ryedale they are major suppliers to McCain but they have never been so far behind planting it is getting desperate.
McCain are very fussy if a stone gets in their processing all hell breaks loose - so normally they destone (machine buries small stones too deep to get in harvester). Just doing that has been a major problem if it is too wet soil can go into a putty-;like state.
It's hard to see how there won't be serious shortages even if they somehow get a lot planted the next week or two.

There's some new Google Earth photos of around here come up lately, taken in around 3,4 April last year. The big contractor from away was planting up the road on those pics, no chance this year. They lifted some in August IIRC because it was the only dry bit they could get on and the chippers were paying Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£ as it was wet all over the country

Folk just better get off their backsides and out of the coffee shops and get back into their gardens and get digging and sowing

I've got 7 rows of second earlies and main crop in. Maris summat, and my old favourite, Sarpo Mira. Charlotte are doing well in a g/house container, hoicked outside if it gets too warm in there.
OH ran the rotovator over fallow ground for me on three consecutive dry days last week, so all that is planted up now. And my back aches.

I didn't mean the folk on here I meant the general public with gardens

Gardens? These days any property with even a postage stamp, is built on. Those that arenā€™t, seem to favour herringbone paving and a planter with artificial plants in. Sad isnā€™t it?
But then three generations now have been used to ā€˜open this end and microwave fir 3 minutesā€™ for a lunch, dinner or supper.

Even spuds need peeling - or not, if they are dried, chipped, roasted and frozen.
