Not my pics, it was the first time it was open to the public yesterday, (heritage open days) I think it had a metal staircase but it's been removed as unsafe

This would be before she was queen if not actually during WW2.
In the war she drove military trucks even as bombs were falling, and did at least some maintenance and repairs.
She can't be very old being born 1926

She signed up as soon as she could, so aged 18 (no chance of bending the truth for her!), so joined in April 1944 presumably.
