3 rows of one and 5 of the other. 8 row planter going back and fore. But 10 rows of one and 6 of t'other
Of course maize drill with individual hoppers, I was trying to compute some sort of GPS drilling missing every other pass3 rows of one and 5 of the other. 8 row planter going back and fore.
That will be some variation in dry matter when chopping surely?
Anyone have an idea what a standing crop of maize would be worth ?
Proximity to a big dairy unit would-be a factor no doubt
Some being grown down the road. It was drilled with wheat, again , in early Sep last year then came up full of blackgrass and brome so looks like it was made into hay then maize drilled. There's a farmer about 3 miles away feeds maize to beef cattle or the digester is nearer 20 miles away. I'll have to be asking where it's goinga bit risky growing and selling on a spot price, most dairy farms would have their winter needs covered by the time maize harvest comes round, of course if the summer season has resulted in lower than expected yields then there will be demand, but if clamps are full then demand will be close to zero.
My experience with a field of grass in this area is everyone has plenty in store, but that might be different in other parts.
