Anyone watching it? Very very entertaining and whilst he is lacking in practical skills he is far from stupid
Nope not seen it , the chatter at work is that it’s very good and the other channel seem to be mostly wetting themselves about it
Clarkson the saviour of British agriculture not so sure about that the sceptic in Me says He will only play real farmer as long as the reviews and ratings are good
The stopping to cook things ruins the flow of it for me. Don't like the Yorkshire woman, too pushy and "look at me, aren't I wonderful" for my taste.Just shows how poorly the industry is represented when Clarkson is mooted as our saviour.
I just find it entertaining. I can't be bothered with Kate Humble, who keeps stopping to cook something, or forage for wild garlic. " Our Summer Farm ".......not really aimed at farmers with welly throwing and Lama shagging. " Our Yorkshire Farm ". hmmmm.....OK, but I'm not livestock minded, and keep getting distracted with Amanda's ever shorter skirts...
Then there's Countryfile......![]()
AKA Angry farmer's son....It's giving the public what they want, all the kids/ponies/cars/barn conversions must be paid for from books and speaking engagementsI think @Nearly knows her personally
I know Clarkson is not everyone's cup of tea, but he calls a spade a spade and that suits me just fineI like Clarkson, and the show is Clarkson doing what Clarkson does, it's entertaining and amusing. It shows the trials farming combats with the weather and prices but at the same time is obvioysly scripted.
Some of what he does is only possible because of his celebrity status, for instance who else could open a farm shop, that only sells potatoes that are past their 'best by' date, expect its customers to park in a mud bath and still have punters lining up the road to get in?.
He started the series pretending to have the David mitchel view of farming, and slowly reveals that there is a bit more to the job than that, which is a good thing.
As for Gerald, subtitles need to be turned on.
Clarkson or clockwork orange?Being a film buff, I particularly enjoyed the start-of-harvest homage to Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange -superb.
Malcolm McDowell at his creepy finest:
I’m currently sitting re-watching it with my 8 and 6 year olds- it’s a lot swearier than I remembered![]()
I’ve shown them bits of 2001 A Space Odyssey, but Clockwork Orange might have to wait a bit!Clarkson or clockwork orange?
