Bloody lawnmower.

Still a work in progress, ive got new rods, then like a rooky dick head I lost a valve collet while stripping it down to eyeball the valve guide that had moved..
I tapped the guide back to where it's meant to be. Apparently if the head gets clogged up around the fins it can over heat, expand and the guide moves.
I might regret it but I dont want to take the head off.
With a bit of luck im hoping to get it back together at the weekend..
Im also keeping quiet about the bonnet which lost a battle with the merlos front wheel
 
So, She ran like a dream for five or six cuts, then repeated the fault, bent another push rods after the valve guide moved again. Decision made to order a new head, complete with valves fitted, new rockers and a full set of gaskets. Got it fitted yesterday just before it rained, then tried it this evening. Ran perfectly, so I'm pleased with the result. £160 for the head, which seemed dear enough, but then again I wouldn't like to make one for that.

I'd suggest if use is erratic, ie over 3-4 weeks then fuel it like a V4 Wisconsin engine, run it on 50:1 or even 100:1 with the likes of ATF or 20w50.
